Mental Health Group Descriptions
Depression and Self-Esteem
This group is a free, six week course for teenagers to discuss their experiences with depression and to learn effective methods for managing depression and improves self-esteem by understanding and strengthening the many characteristics that create a positive self-image.
Conflict Resolution
The conflict resolution group is a free, six week group, in various Jefferson County school districts. The conflict resolution group teaches teens the difference between conflict and bullying and helps them to identify positive interventions for both.
Chill Skills
This free six week group navigates through the various ways to cope such as through tactile means, movement, mindful eating, music, art, and self reflection.
Understanding the Neurodivergent Mind
This group is a free, six week course for teenagers, between the ages of 11 and 18, with a diagnosis under the Neurodivergent umbrella. The group will allow teens to discuss their strengths and challenges with these diagnosis, explore social expectations and norms and discuss increasing attention and focus when needed
Anxiety Management
This group is a free, six week course for teenagers to discuss their experiences with anxiety and to learn effective methods for anxiety management
Peer Relationships
This group is a free, six week course for teenagers to discuss their experiences with peers and effective ways to communicate and resolve conflict.
College and Career Exploration
This group is a collaboration between Atlas and Jefferson College. It is six weeks long and will cover College Admissions, Financial Aid, and Workforce Readiness. Jefferson College will present at three group sessions. The other sessions will be used for discussion about concerns and anxiety regarding future college and career opportunities.
Stress Less Strategies
This group is a free, six week course for teenagers to discuss their experiences with stress and find ways to understand and cope with life stressors.
Understanding Anger
This group is a free, six week course for teenagers to discuss their experiences with anxiety and to learn effective methods for managing anger.
Healthy Minds
This group is a free, six week course for teenagers to better understand what steps can be taken for healthy mind-sets and improved mental health. Topics will include: Anxiety and stress, Self esteem, Self care, Healthy relationships, Emotional regulation/anger and Coping Skills.
LGBTQIA+ Community Building
This is a monthly support group for teenagers in the LGBTQIA+ community to find support in a safe place. If you are in this group please complete this form and email us at info@atlasyouthoutreach.org
Social Skills
This group is for teenagers to develop social skills by recognizing self awareness, building communication skills, and practicing setting/responding to boundaries. The group will teach practical strategies for managing social anxiety, conflicts, and peer pressure.
Healthy Relationships
The Healthy Relationships group is a six week group that discusses the characteristics that create healthy and unhealthy relationships and friendships. The group also discusses respectful communication and setting healthy boundaries.
Healing and Loss
This group is a free, eight week course for teenagers to process the emotions they may be feeling around grief. Teenagers who have experienced any loss that is emotionally impacting them may join to better understand how grief works, how to experience grief in a healthy way.
Adolescent Stress Support
This is a monthly support group for teenagers to find support in a safe place. This group is an open group and you can come each month once you have registered once here.
Confidence Building
This group is a way for teenage to learn tools to build self-confidence in a way that promotes their overall wellbeing. Additionally, group members will learn the importance of establishing self-worth, internal validation and self-assurance in their daily routines
